Spiritual Direction
Welcome to your spiritual direction journey. “God takes everyone he loves through a desert. It is his cure for our wandering hearts, restlessly searching for a new Eden. ” Paul E. Miller

“When God seems silent and our prayers go unanswered, the overwhelming temptation is to leave the story – to walk out of the desert and attempt to create a normal life. But when we persist in a spiritual vacuum, when we hang in there during ambiguity, we get to know God. In fact, that is how intimacy grows in all close relationships.” Paul E. Miller

What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual direction offers a sacred space to reflect on, and become aware of, God’s presence in one’s life.
Sherry Bryant Johnson describes Spiritual Direction “as the practice of Holy Presence and the gift of shared wisdom. The intent is to help us awaken as we journey, so that we can recognize the sacred within and be available to the mystery of purpose that permeates the cosmos.”
Why Choose Spiritual Direction? What to Expect and When to Start?
People come to spiritual direction longing for clarity, guidance, spiritual growth, and a deeper connection with God. Each session gently begins with quiet prayer and silence, creating space to settle your heart and open your awareness to God’s loving presence. In this sacred time, you’re invited to share whatever is on your heart and reflect on how God may be speaking or moving in your life. Sessions typically last about an hour and take place once a month, either in person or virtually—whatever feels most comfortable for you.

HONORED WITNESS
TO YOUR SACRED STORY
Spiritual Director in Training 2025-2027
My name is Lisa Weathers and I’ve been married to my sweetheart for 27 years. Together we have three incredible young adults. I’m a proud graduate of Fisk University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where I studied Psychology, English, and Education.
With more than 26 years of ministry experience, I’ve had the privilege of serving in many roles, but my favorite by far is serving in operations at my church—a space where my passion for organization and care for people come together.
When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me out for a run, listening to an audiobook, or enjoying the stillness of a quiet retreat.
Let’s Talk About it.
